Here are some simple cost-effective tips to treat dyed hair which you can follow at home to keep the colour for longer.

1. Regular Coconut Oil Massage

Coconut oil massage is a traditional way of protecting dyed hair. This oil not only maintains the colour for a long but also does not let your tresses to be dry and brittle. You can also use Hair Sanjeevani oil for better result.

Take two tablespoons of warm coconut oil and distribute it uniformly all over the scalp. Leave it for an hour and then rinse it off with lukewarm water. Do this twice a week and get the results.

2. After coloring, wait for three days for shampooing

After colouring, if you shampoo your hair immediately, the colour will be washed off. As you colour the hair, the cuticle layer opens up and within three days it will fully close and the colour pigment will soak into the hair cuticle completely. Thus, when you shampoo after three days, the colour will be washed of lesser and lasts longer.

3. Use sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner

Some shampoos contain sodium laureth sulfate, also known as sodium laureth ether sulfate. It is a form of anionic detergent present in many personal care products. It gives a foaming effect to the shampoos and conditioners. If you use these shampoos and conditioners, your hair will lose its natural oils and moisture. So that it can then cause stripping your beautiful colour-treated hair. Therefore, try to use a sulphate free shampoo to protect your hair color from fading. Hair Sanjeevani shampoo provides a great option for all hair types like straight, frizzy, curly, or even thin hair, as it is sulfate-free shampoo.

4. Reduce water temperature when shampooing

We feel comfortable with warm water in winter, but, it isn’t good for treated hair. Hot water wash opens the hairs’ cuticles. If you shampoo your hair during this time, you lose the hair colour. To prevent the loss of your hair color, first shampoo with a lukewarm water and then wash with cold water after conditioning. So this is the fifth of our tips to treat dyed hair.

5. Wash hair less often

Regular hair wash will fade the color fast. Besides this, you also lose the natural oils from your hair that moisturize and keep your hair color looking fresh. If you want your hair colour last longer, you can wash 2-3 times a week.

6. On off days, use dry shampoo

Dry shampoo is another option which not only let you avoid washing with shampoo but also maintains the colour for long. It also refreshes your hair and your hair even you just get a blowout without washing. You can also try colored dry shampoos to restore your color without going to the salon.
